To help our children grow, we have to let them feel pain.

I interviewed Gary Black, discussing one of our favorite themes - how to raise radical kids.  Gary and Lisa are two of the best parents I've ever met.  Their six kids have been through so much, but they are turning out awesome.  They are respectful, responsible, and yes, radical.  During their last year in Africa, they learned so much about what it feels like to be an outcast and a minority.

One of the most important things that Gary and Lisa did was to let them go through it and not rescue them.  They knew that unless their children experienced pain, they couldn't grow.  It was hard, but that's part of what helps children who are full of potential become men and women of destiny.
