Last week, former President Bush took a couple of minutes to share the heroic example of World Racer Dave Smith in a speech he gave in Dallas.

Dave served in the marine corps as a team leader who was deployed to Iraq twice. He recovered from PTSD and signed up for the World Race.

In highlighting that experience, President Bush says that he couldn't be there because "he is in Swaziland...he went from looking down a shotgun to traveling to 11 countries in 11 months building Bible schools, teaching English, math, and science, working in the fields and digging water wells."
