Over in Thailand our World Race women are working with the Well, a ministry that helps young ladies caught up in the sex trade to find their way out of the dark world they often find themselves in.  Kim Daniels shot the video below and I love the way that she and her teammates care so deeply and dive into the issue with everything they've got.

There are always going to be critics when we start to care about an issue that is new to us.  They are going to say things like, "What do they know really?"  "How can they possibly make a difference in that short amount of time?"  "Who's going to follow up after they're gone?"  And those critics miss the point.  They would probably find fault with anybody trying to do something for the first time.  We all have to start somewhere.  Jesus himself didn't set about the work of saving the world until he was 30. His disciples spent three years with him and were a continual source of frustration.

For heaven's sake, none of us get to excellence right off the bat.  OK, maybe Mozart did.  But usually God doesn't work that way.  He takes our willingness and then our growing passion and he shapes it.  He takes our weakness and shows himself strong.  What he is looking for are a few people who see a problem like the sex trade, or AIDS, or orphans, or refugees, or (fill in the blank) and say, "That's wrong, and I may not be fully prepared, but I'm willing to do dive in with both feet and try to make a difference!"

When the church of Jesus Christ stops turning the channel and starts to take on the world's problems with this kind of passion, we will begin to see radical change.  If you're a young person, what are you doing to change the world?  Let me suggest you ask yourself, "What do I feel strongly about?" and start there.  If you can't work up some anger and a few tears, then consider helping Kim and her sisters tackle the sex trade.
