I'm in Wisconsin visiting my old friends Marty and RuthAnn Longcor. He's a pastor who went on one of the first AIM mission trips. On the flight here, I read Heidi Baker's book, Always Enough. She recounts a couple of times where people were raised from the dead in Mozambique. These people who say that God doesn't do that anymore haven't met Heidi and they haven't met my friend, Caspar McCloud.

Caspar has been a friend for 19 years. He's a world class artist and musician who has struggled with heart disease for years. Five years ago, on July 3rd, 2001, he was performing at Pleasant Valley Church in Thomaston, GA. His doctor, Terri Allen and a friend, Anita, accompanied him to the church. As he was going up for prayer from the pastor, his heart stopped. Dr. Allen described it like this:

Before we could stop him, Caspar slipped out of our hands and fell to the floor.

At that moment, I knew we weren't just in a battle for Caspar's health, it was a battle for his life. Pleasant Valley Church is in a farmland area. The hospital was miles away and there was nothing to do but monitor Caspar's pulse. So Anita and I each grabbed a wrist. And looking at each other across Caspar's body, we shared the same startling knowledge. There was no pulse.

The pastor, Henry Wright, has seen hundreds of people healed. He understands Kingdom living. He described what happened next:

There we were, standing over Caspar's body. Standing between life and death. What then? Should we have called 9-1-1? Just then, the Spirit of God dropped into my heart and I knew that a spirit of death had taken Caspar out. It was like the enemy said, "Yeah, you think you're going believe in God? Look what I can do."

I remember looking down at Caspar and saying, "Ah, I know what's happening here. I know what this is." Then I spoke to that invisible kingdom of evil, "Your problem is not with him anymore, you've got a problem with me."

Suddenly, Caspar's pulse started up. In that moment, not only was he brought back to life, but his heart was healed.

Read Caspar's story in his book Nothing is Impossible.
