Seth Barnes - We Need Fresh Reminders of God's Power

My life changed when in 1979, as a 21 year-old, I went to Thailand to help with the refugees from the Killing Fields. That's an old photo of me teaching refugees to raise chickens. It put money in their pockets and fed other refugees.

Though it was just three months, I learned that even on a short-term trip, you can make a difference.

The experience changed the course of my life. And I decided that other young people like me need to experience the God I met in that refugee camp. That's how AIM started.

The good news is that God continues to meet young people as he did me through our ministry! And those young people are touching the world in Jesus name.

Recently a young missionary wrote with this report:

"In one of the villages, we were praying over this precious woman who was completely blind in her right eye. She had been blind for many years. After I prayed over her I notice she was rapidly blinking that eye and closing the other one.

I had the translator ask how her eye was. She grinned at me and said, "I can see with that eye now!"

It's good that I saw God moving in 1979. But I need a fresh revelation of God's power to remind me that he is still moving. Memory fades for all of us. We need reminders of the things we know to be true.

If you're married, you need a daily hug and kiss from your spouse. You need evidence that the love that once burned hot still has some heat.

How long has it been since you've asked the Lord to show up in your life? He says, "You'll seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart." (Jer. 29:13)

If you're feeling the distance in your relationship, maybe it's time to seek him again.
