Yesterday I blogged about the question, "Does God intend for us to settle for a life without faith?"  So many of us find ourselves bruised and abused by life, having attempted stuff for God, but diminished along the way by man.  When that happens, we retreat.

I remember when I'd been fired by a ministry I helped start and God told me not to grow weary in doing good.  The thought of re-entering ministry after that exhausted me.  I didn't know who to trust.  All I wanted to do was hide.  It was really tough emotionally.  And I wanted to retreat to my isolation from ministry and from people.  I just wanted to be left alone to lick my wounds.

Open Apologies, a blog by Jonathan Almanzar and Aaron Havens, asks the question "What do you retreat to?"  It's a good question.  The blog says:

When my day hasn't gone as planned, when my roads have hit a dead end, with to no avail do all my efforts amount...I seek comfort.  A warm bath.  A good movie.  A soft couch.  A good drink.

What about the rest of you? To what do you find yourself retreating when all else fails?
